Strong foundations for landcare in Victoria
Supporting the people and networks that underpin the landcare movement

Landcare Victoria is the peak body for a grassroots movement that connects people to care for their local environment and community. With more than 600 member groups and 90,000 volunteers, landcare connects communities across regional, rural and metropolitan Victoria, supporting participation, local leadership and community connections.
Funding from Helen Macpherson Smith Trust supports Landcare Victoria’s core operations, including key staff roles and organisational capacity. The investment enables the organisation to continue supporting landcare groups, build sector-wide skills and knowledge, and further develop partnerships and funding pathways. The support ensures Landcare Victoria can respond to growing demand, and continue to support community-led action across the state.
This approach aligns with the Trust’s focus on building social capital by strengthening community organisations. Supporting a trusted statewide organisation enables communities to collaborate and respond to local challenges, contributing to stronger connections and more resilient communities across Victoria.
Landcare empowers local communities to care for the places in which they live and work, and deliver environmental, social and economic value, which strengthens Victoria from the ground up. We are working to enhance the organisational capacity of landcare organisations, build the skills and knowledge of landcarers, and unlock the resources that landcare needs to thrive.
